TORRANCE, CA – July 10, 2025Robinson Helicopter Company (RHC), the world's leading manufacturer of civil helicopters, will display the all-new R88 helicopter at this year’s APSCON/APSCON Unmanned from July 16-18, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona, in booth #1213. This marks the first public display of Robinson Helicopter's newest aircraft since its unveiling in March 2025. With a highly configurable cabin, mission-specific optional equipment, and a new avionics suite, the R88 is poised to be a game-changer for airborne public safety, offering a lower cost of ownership and significantly reduced maintenance expenses.

Attendees will have the opportunity to get an up-close look at Robinson Helicopter’s

largest and newest aircraft in nearly 15 years. This 10-seat, single-engine turbine helicopter, powered by a Safran Arriel 2W engine, has been engineered for exceptional versatility and efficiency and is an ideal solution for a wide range of public safety missions.

Key features for public safety operations include:

  • Highly Configurable Interior: A spacious cabin with a flat floor, large dual sliding doors, and a fold-down, truck-bed style rear door allows for multiple configurations to accommodate diverse missions, including a HEMS stretcher.
  • Exterior Adaptability: Available with standard skids or optional high skids for increased ground clearance. The aircraft can also be configured with a firefighting water tank and 3,000-pound HEC-rated cargo hook, utility basket, wire strike protection kit, or pop-out floats as optional equipment.
  • Advanced Avionics and Safety: Equipped with a state-of-the-art Garmin avionics suite, including a standard 4-axis autopilot, dual hydraulics, inlet barrier filter, impact-resistant windshields, and new LED exterior lighting to prioritize safety and operational effectiveness.

"With the initial unveiling at Verticon 2025 in March, APSCON/APSCON Unmanned 2025 is the next industry event to showcase the R88. We designed the R88 to meet the evolving demands of public safety aviation, from aerial firefighting and law enforcement, to air medical transport and other critical missions,” said David Smith, president and CEO of Robinson Helicopter Company. “We’re developing an aircraft that meets a wider range of mission requirements tailored for the challenging environment of public safety while maintaining Robinson Helicopter’s hallmark reliability, affordability, and safety.”

As an all-new type certificate, the R88 is undergoing rigorous testing and engineering for every aspect of the aircraft. The company is taking deposits from Authorized Robinson Helicopter Dealers. Additionally, attendees can visit Ascent AeroSystems, a subsidiary of Robinson Helicopter, at booth #1105, to learn more about its unmanned coaxial aerial systems and manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T).
